BROD will be presented at the roundtable for information integrity in Sofia, organised by the French Insitut

The Embassy of France and the French Institute in Bulgaria are organising a public roundtable featuring experts, journalists, and fact-checkers. Iglika Ivanova from GATE/BROD is among the invited researchers. The Ambassador of France to Bulgaria H.E. Marie Dumoulin will open the event, together with Nikola Miladinov, Press and Media Advisor at the Representation of the European Commission in Bulgaria.
In the age of ever-evolving information manipulations - from sophisticated deepfakes to coordinated disinformation campaigns, the questions of the ability of media, institutions and citizens to resist and cooperate to protect democratic debate are essential. The roundtable aims to examine the challenges facing journalism and fact-checking in Bulgaria and the Black Sea region with a focus on influence operations, the integration of fact-checking practices in mainstream media and the role of media literacy in building sustainable communities. Among the experts are also Ruslan Trad (Digital Forensic Research Lab at the Atlantic Council, co-founder of De Re Militari), journalist Maya Dimitrova from BNT, thanks to whom Bulgaria saw the film "Architects of Chaos", the fact-checker for AFP - a main partner of BROD - Rosen Bosev. The moderator is the Deputy President of the Association of European Journalists - International Irina Nedeva. The event is organized within the framework of the regional project "Strengthening Democratic Media in the Black Sea Region", supported by the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France and implemented in partnership with Agence France-Presse (AFP). It is free of charge and is open to everyone - journalists, students, researchers, representatives of civil society, and registration is required.
