The municipalities of Burgas and Bansko have officially adopted the Voluntary Code for the Ethical Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Public Administration, developed by the Institute of Public Administration (IPA). Burgas became the first local administration to join the initiative, backed by Mayor Dimitar Nikolov on August 11, 2026. Shortly after, on August 18, 2026, Bansko also signed the document, cementing its role as a technological innovator. The primary goal of the code is to ensure the responsible and transparent deployment of AI tools while safeguarding citizen rights. More information and the official document template are available on the IPA website.
