Harnessing AI for Better Journalism. BROD presented at MEDIAiBiH, Sarajevo

BROD work was presented at the conference on Artificial Intelligence in the Information and Media System of Bosnia and Herzegovina (MEDIAiBiH), organised by the Social Sciences Research Center (SSRC) at International Burch University, on behalf of the Delegation of the European Union to Bosnia and Herzegovina (EUD).
The conference, held on 26 September 2024, delves in the possibilities that AI gives to journalists. The first panel Robo-journalist or AI Assistant: Harnessing AI for Better Journalism This panel will delve into how AI can be used to enhance the quality of journalism, from newsgathering to content production, while addressing the ethical and practical challenges involved.
Moderated by Enes Hodžić from the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network (BIRN), the panel featured prominent media professionals, including Danina Mahmutovic (Swedish Radio), Ermina Gakic Kulenovic (Al Jazeera Balkans), Emir Zulejhić (Zašto ne), Elmir Huremovic (Federal News Agency FENA), Aimilios Perdikaris (ΑΠΕ-ΜΠΕ / Athens Macedonian News Agency), and Ruslana Margova (BRODhub, GATE Institute at Sofia University).
Questions like how AI is reshaping traditional journalism practices in Balkan countries, how AI could help to fact-checkers with tools and what lessons or strategies could benefit media organizations were discussed.
