Third BROD fact-checking training
In March 2025 9 participants from Bulgaria and Romania have improved their knowledges on digital investigation, during a training done by three AFP journalists from the international news agency's fact-checking department. The training took place in a hybrid format: after an online opening session, the AFP team made with Marion Dautry, Paula Cabescu and Rossen Bossev spend two full intense days at the AEJ in Sofia and the same at Funky Citizens' office in Bucharest. The closing session took place jointly with participants of AFP HDMO fact-checking training on April 3.
All BROD AFP fact-checking training participants received a certificate of completion and took part to a post training survey. They all did find the training useful: "I enjoyed very much the exercises and the knowledge that the trainers had" wrote a participant.
AFP, BROD at DisinfoHack 2025
Bulgarian journalist Rossen Bossev presented AFP work and activities within BROD during the DisinfoHack 2025 organised by BROD coordinator GATE, on March 24, 2025. The participants to the two-months long hackathon could take direct advises from the fact-checker.
AFP webinar for Romanian photojournalists
AFP project manager Isabelle Wirth, a former photo editor at the news agency, has delivered a two-hour online session on disinformation, photojournalism for a group of 11 Romanian students, press-photographers. They got a presentation of AFP fact-checking, image verification, BROD project and some key principles regarding photography in the AI age. The session was part of a workshop animated by photojournalist Octav Ganea organized by Inquam Photos agency and Institut français de Roumanie, with the support of ING Bank Romania.
