Prof. Sylvia Ilieva, Director of the GATE Institute, Prof. Svetla Koeva, Director of the Institute for Bulgarian Language at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Iliya Krastev from A Data Pro, and Veselin Georgiev from Plan A officially opened the Seventh International Conference on Computational Linguistics in Bulgaria (CLIB 2026).

BROD researchers had a strong presence at the conference. Following the CLEAR-TEXT workshop on text clarity, organized by Dr. Irina Temnikova, Ruslana Margova and Nevena Grigorova were also part of a team that, in cooperation with representatives of Identrics, presented new datasets for the analysis of propaganda in Bulgarian.

Nevena Grigorova, Stanislav Penkov, Keith Kiley, Dobromir Tsolov, and Iglika Ivanova also presented the paper Syntactic Patterns in Political Speech: Dependency-Based Ad Hominem Detection in Bulgarian Social Media, which attracted considerable interest during the poster session. On the second official day of the conference, Dobromir Tsolov, Keith Kiley, and Georgi Goranov presented their joint work with Iglika Ivanova and Stanimir Dimitrov, Optimizing LLM-based Discourse Analysis in Low-Resource Languages: A Case Study of Bulgarian Euro Adoption Narratives.

In addition, Stanislav Penkov presented his research, A WordNet-Aligned Taxonomy of Logical Fallacies for Low-Resource NLP. Ruslana Margova presented the joint study with Irina Temnikova, Experiment Design of a Balanced Eye-Tracking Study for Measuring the Cognitive Impact of the Stimulus Word “Disinformation”. Margova’s paper, Detecting Pseudoscientific Narratives in Bulgarian Science Communication: Nationalistic Mystification, Pseudo-Expertise and Cultural Blind Spots in AI-Assisted Analysis, will be uploaded to the CLIB 2026 archive at a later stage.
