A number of measures to limit the risks of disinformation campaigns are envisaged by the draft law for amendments to the Electronic Communications Bill prepared by the democratic groups in Bulgaria.

The law stipulates certain obligations of the Communications Regulation Commission (CRC) and the Minister of Electronic Government.

The draft proposes solutions for coordinated inauthentic behaviour, against the monetisation of fake news by anonymous websites, against the dissemination of misleading advertisements of non-medical products (food supplements) through the unauthorised use of the names and faces of celebrities, against lost benefits by local media service providers due to unfair practices of global platforms and many others.

The Bill has been published for prior public consultation with stakeholders and an email address has been placed to send suggestions bozhidar.bozhanov@parliament.bg
