Fighting Misinformation Online (supported by Google, YouTube, European University Institute, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Demagog and Mixer)

Fighting Misinformation Online (FMO) event in Warsaw is hosted by Google, YouTube, European University Institute, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation alongside Demagog and Mixer.

Two Romanians - one from BROD partners organization Funky Citizens Elena Calistru and Monica Berescu, Member of Romanian Parliament, and two Bulgarians - Maria Cheresheva, Vice-President of AEJ-Bulgaria/Factcheck and Boryana Dzhambasova from AEJ-Bulgaria discussed also the experience of Bulgaria.

The FMO series was launched for the first time in October 2021, when we announced Google’s inaugural contribution of 25 million Euro to the launch of the European Media and Information Fund. The Fund was set up by the European University Institute and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, under the supervision of the European Digital Media Observatory, to strengthen fact checking, media literacy and research on disinformation. 

Coming together to tackle misinformation feels more important than ever and Google and YouTube have a responsibility in this fight and are a part of the solution.
